TRAVEL BOX PALETTE of 11

I decided to take only the watercolor pencils I could fit into a new neat slide top wooden box..when I go to Eastport---and limit myself to a fixed palette---I am used to just about every color pencil there is and this will get
me back to more "mix thoughts" which can only be a good
thing. The first color in the rows is the start color and' then the rest of them are are added to it.--using the waterbrush that wipes off to clean easily on a paper towel make this type of exercise non messy and fun. I will take a white pencil too, just in case.
It's the teacher in me that thinks maybe some newcomers might benefit from
this spread. I hope so...

I think this is a wonderful idea. I will have to make one myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great idea Winna - and very handy to have it already there in your journal.

Did you mix the colors on the paper and then add water? Or some other combination? Will check back to see your method since I use these for museum drawing and have a sample color chart for my pencil case, but not mixes.

I took say the red pencil, and on the watercolor paper I scribbled several squarish areas next to it keeping the pressure equal---then I proceded to add the different colors to each section with pencils---then I used the waterbrush to blend the colors together, wiping brush on paper towel o keep it clean between colors.... and that's it---on to the next color...winna

How I got 11 pencils in a ten pencil box? It may be because of the many sided shape of the Farber Castell pencils----5 fit on the bottom--and somehow 6 fit on the top---another shape pencil may fit 12--Winna

Great idea! I've done palettes before, but just so I know what color each pencil makes, and when I add another color to it I write it down with the new color, but adding each color to one basic color - haven't done that yet. But I probably will now!
