Black Beauty

At first I thought this was a humming

bird with about a 4 inch wing span,

flitting around the fence flowers. And

fumbling to get my Cybershot camera out of my

pocketbook, I was happy it hung around

so I could get a pretty clear photo. It

was not easy to get the detail with

it being in constant motion--one of

yesterday's moments of joy....

Oh Hum..................

Of course I care, but I can't
let it show and ruin my day -
time after time I am ready
to celebrate and have to change
channels to not witness the slaughter.

I remember how goood it was !

I would be surprised if anybody can name
this place to have lunch, if you are on
your way to Buckland Mall---I was with Kim and
Amber and my order of Macaroni and Cheese was
outstanding and enough for two meals.

Cough Cough... if you're there

This photo just in from Sumner---a scene of
the fires out there in California they are
experiencing---right now pretty
heavy in Yosemite...this is in Novato
in the distance by the Humane Society.
Other photos sent show the fires
creeping where the winds take them--
but I liked the plane in this one. They've
had bad air for quite some time--I guess
I'd be gone by now, if I lived there.

Coming Thru The Fog

Here, the cow girls plod from the fog mists
to take a closer look at me. Since I was not
spreading a bale of hay around or scooping out
grain for them, they lost interest mighty quickly.

It's In The Bag

Just took this photo for the light
hitting it, that caught my eye.
I love the photo and hope you
enjoy seeing how the commonest
item can really shine. This particular
bag has been the one I toss things
into to go in the car so I won't
leave something home I'll be needing
when doing the 'errands'. It almost
was given to someone else until I
did a lot of clamouring and saved
it to come back to me. Seems
strange, but I think this was all
so, this morning I could
appreciate the light and take the
photo...a small thing in the
scheme of things but one where
I feel the moment was destined.

Fledglings

Friday July 25 2008
A photo Sumner took--I don't know how he
got so close to get so much detail and I am
quite jealous!

Vegetable Stands Rule !

Thursday July 24 08
Went over to Tina's vegetable
stand (up off Leonard Road)
today for a couple ears of sweet
corn which did not have to
be weighed. I sure like the old
scale though and wish I had
gotten those string beans, too.

Pride of Cat

Wednesday 7 23 08
I'll act like I don't care, but I'm
on the blog today and am just about
bursting with pride.

Studio Snooping

This just may be the front of the house below,
hard to tell, but I am going by the number
of the shot. The back part
can't be seen from this view.
Big old places with fences like
like this melt my heart and I wish I had a
friend living there that would allow me to
poke around the entire house to
my heart's content!

Wednesday the 23rd July 2008

I drove up a hilly street, took a right

and then down a hilly street

stopping to take this photo of

the back of a house I had taken

the front of on the up hill street.

So this house sets quite a ways

back as it on the other street.

Clear as mud? It may not show

well in this size but there is a man in there

in what looks like a studio

with brushes by the windows. Made me

feel a bit sleazy.

like I was working for The Inquirer .

....And Bushy Tailed

Monday July 21 2008
He's not sure but pretty certain
I don't see him on the picnic table...
I wanted him to face the light better,
but he had other plans.

Field Remains

Sunday July 20 2008

This pile of rusty items is far off over in the field.

Each time I take a photo of it, it is redder as the rust

spreads. To me, it almost looks like a

a huge leggy insect trying to crawl out of the

area or the wreckage of

Amelia Earhart's craft found at last.

Kicking Up My Heels

Saturday July 19 2008
Here's Bootsannah kicking up her heels in
my new boots...I'm practicing some
new line dancing numbers for the surprise
party and tuning up my guitar to
sing some Country Blues. That's my
story and I'm sticking to it !
**********
PS...I forgot to add I need a date to this
party----who do you suggest?

Kowgal Kim

Friday July 18 2008
I had to put the picture of Kim at the
Western Store that I liked the best....
She bought a pair of earrings and I bought
some boots---go figure...

The Rare Red Sox Baseball Bug

Wednesday July 16 2008
This is what posed for me on the kitchen
window this am. If you know
what it is, please tell me---my computer
is out of whack so I must hurry
to post this before it
freezes up

Two Fields Two Worlds

Monday July 15 2008

These are two views of the same field
taken about a week
apart and at a slightly different angle.
I drove up the old rutted road today and
realized I hadn't been up there in perhaps
20 years---I liked seeing all around
from the different perspective and the
feel of intruding upon the wild
kingdom that exisits for many
animals on that land, was sobering.

Grass Jungle

Sunday July 13 2008
The same day I took the shot of the
woodchuck I got this one in almost
the same spot.....
about four hours later, a neighbor's
very skittish cat that seldom is
around and runs away like zee wind
if I go out there was settled there.
Here, you can see
he also thinks I cannot see him as did
the ground hog---suits me just fine.

Chuckie

Saturday July 12 08
In the early am I am out on the porch
looking for birds and spied this fellow
who thinks I can't see him as he is
in a frozen pose....does anybody
want him as a pet?
Please come and capture him,
take him home in your pet carrier
and let him dig around your yard.

Rudy's Barn

Friday July 11 2008
Passing this old Italianate style barn
each day as I drive to get the mail
is a pleasure. One day it'll be gone
and missed by people for miles around.

Sittin' Pretty

Thursday July 10 2008
I can hardly believe that this photo I took
in Chester Vermont and found it to be one
of my favorite had a Titmouse bird sitting
on a post/handle that I never saw till I
decided to use it for the Blog---
whew!...now that's a long sentence.
I pass these harrows a lot when there
and by having to go out early for coffee
one fine morning,
I found the light was the best then,
for a shot.

Phinias on Books

Wednesday July 9th 2008
This is something I had to have
and it came yesterday by UPS.
I may name him Phinias...I am
not sure. The good Doctor
was ahead of his time
in producing collectibles.

Kablooey !

Tuesday July 8 2008
When I rotated this fireworks photo I took,
the shapes seem wave like. I'll wear
gloves next time I'm out in the dark for
much of anything---so the bugs will
leave my hands alone.

:"Who Are You...Who Who...Who Who?"

Monday July 7 2008
My one chance to be around an owl was
a trip to a Rapture Rescue place with Gail.
I believe this owl has a missing eye and
although healed may not be able to return
to the wild for quite some time with such
a handicap.

Palmist Patty

Sunday July 6 2008

Here is one of the pins

I am making to sell.

She measures 2 1/2" by

4" and has two pin backs

to be secure and

straightly pinned.

They take awhile to make

with drying times etc and other

needed steps. I will hand make

about six and they will be

very reasonably offered at

twenty five dollars plus

postage.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

Hooray !

Friday July 4 2008
I Hope you all enjoy this

4th of July----we used to

have the big family reunion type

picnic down in the clearing

with tons of food, games and prizes.

Now the fourths are pretty quiet

around here except at night

when the sky puts on quite a show

for miles around.

Three on a Stem

Thursday July 3 2008
Taken just now, 7 am----the wild roses are
always surprising me---this time I looked and there
were three stages of buds opening
right in a row with early morning
dew on them that look like tiny
glass beads.

Here I am.....

Wednesday July 2 2008
Here I am grinning at my camera across
the room on a Gorillapod. It's a small
tri pod with three bendy legs that will
wind around a lot of things like chairs,
fence posts etc. The small size is for
the small lightweight cameras and they have
bigger ones, too. I vote this one handy
thing for me to have.
