"Dedication"

*************
Here is the dedication page in the front of
my second, almost completed,
can hardly believe it, small
Moleskine journal.
I have managed to catch quite a few
strong memories of my mother,
before she was my mother.
You can see the drawing from the photo in the
blog just before this one.
I'll just mention what an ordeal it
was to pick the blackberries even if
there was quite a large tangled patch---
I had to wear long sleeved
flannel shirt and big buckle boots to survive
something resembling no mans land...
which was a killer in the hot
days the berries were ripe to pick.

Loved your tributes....it really makes you feel closer to her I'm sure. I did a painting of my mother when she was three..and it was fun to imagine her life during the depression...the fashions..the hopes, dreams. Thank you for posting these tributes!

The tribute to your mother is very special. But, the berries are what first caught my eye. Lovely! I so want to learn how to depict berries. I have some in my backyard and dearly love them.

As everyone else has said, great tribute! It's neat to think of your parents before they were parents. And I have the same memories of picking berries, though we didn't sell them. Long sleeves, Kansas humid heat, thorny vines. But we did it as extended family and made fun of it...and great jellies!
