I have been lax about entering any photos
on this siteas I am doing nothing but paintings for
an exhibit in Eastport Maine next June.
I did journaling steady for a year and think
that it honed my observstions---I am so grateful
for all the helpful comments I received and
still look at your works when I am taking a breather.

The result of not having a model to pose for me is I am the one holding the huge fish--this is not a self portrait but rather how I feel bout parts of my life. Some of the symbolism relates to how I never want to let go of the Ireland Journey in my heart.

What a portrait, I love it. The symbol, the warm colors and
on Friday the 13th!
It is beautiful
You've been quiet for a while, Winna. Glad you haven't stopped the art. I noticed the Celtic pattern, but can't figure the symbolism of the fish.
Nice portrait, must have been difficult to accomplish.
This is such an engaging painting! Lovely work as usual. I look forward to seeing more of your paintings.
How wonderful to have you back in this medium and this grand scale. I love the painting! It glows figuratively and literally. And yes, I see a bit of the artist in the figure who is clearly much older and weathered. MORE!!!
Missed you! Lovely drawing and colors as usual!
Oh my goodness, I love this. Really. I love the strangeness of a portrait of someone holding a fish! And, when I saw it, I noticed the self-portrait in it!
John asked about the fish as a symbol...for this painting I am holding on to the 'fertile creativeness"---just one of the many things fish may represent from all races and countries and all ages---the fish has symbolized many things. Just Google 'fish as a symbol'---I have loved to use them for years as have other artists. Winna
How good to see you posting again, Winna. You have been missed, but I must say this painting is worth the wait. Your work has great strength!
I've missed your posts!! Welcome back!
It's a beautiful painting and a very fascinating portrait. It feels warm because of your smile and the way you hold the fish (possessively but gently : ). There's a very deep joy coming from the painting, like a little light, shy but very present.
In short, I love it - wish I could see your exhibition!
Winna, This is just wonderful - I love your arm around the fish and the enigmatic smile you've captured on your 'subject'. super! (and great to hear from you!)
I have missed your posts so it is good to see this portrait. I do hope there will be more of your painting to see before too long. Looking forward to hearing more about your exhibition too.
I love this piture, a self portrait with a fish! It's beautiful. The bird paintings are simply lovely too. Thank you for sharing :o)
You really do beautiful work.
A spectacular piece Winna...You always have such heart in your work! :) LovelY! :)
Awesome picture Noknee!
You have managed to pull it off again. Only you would do a self portrait with a fish. I bet that is almost a first. Signifying your originality.
