Edgar On The Edge

Tuesday July 1st 2008
When I went down cellar this am to photo

old textures found in such underground places

I saw something fly by the stairs.

I was now cautious about perhaps

a vampire bat lurking down

there, ready to

go for my throat. I saw nothing and

assumed I'd imagined it, till

I went over by the rusted oil tank and

then heard a small bird frantically flying

on the inside window ledge.

Well, camera in hand I took several

shots and returned upstairs for

another camera with a different lens.

I thought for sure my luck would be, that it

would go out whatever way it got in.

No, it was still there willing to perform

it's almost macabre ledge dance. After

thanking it for being a once in a life

time model under these circumstances,

I struggled to push back the

medieval bar on the door and left

it opened for Poe's (I named him)

escape. He'll be free now in the

big world and on his own.

Two Textures

Monday June 30 2008

This could be a card for someone special

with perhaps a photo adherred

on top---or used as background for many projects

using the computer to help you design.

It shows how looking down when out with

your camera can catch interesting textures

from beach surf to clover. Keep a collection

of these photos for your creative uses.

Then there's the looking closely at

old worn surfaces or as in the top

photo, a floor tile sample looks great.

Shadowed House

Sunday June 30 2008
Here's a private residence in Eastport Maine.
I might stay again this year and
the name of' the rental, (not a motel)
where I'll stay is '1842 Bates'
Since I read all of Sara Graves
mysteries that take place in
Eastport, I see plot possibilities
all over the island.

Smiling Sunflower

Saturday June 29 2008
I had decided to have these grow by my
front fence this year but I guess the
seeds used were not fresh---oh well, next
year the attempt will be made again.
I thought the birds would love them and
so there would be some Kodak moments
to capture.

Early Bird

Friday June 28 2008
At just about dawn this bird sat
there for maybe 1 minute---then
flew off to join his friends for
a nice breakfast at the mall
parking lot.

Buzy Bee

Thursday June 26 2008
Every summer I photo the Wild Roses from
Maine and usually think the results will look
pretty similar---but there's so many facets to their
life span and weather conditions to contend
with that I find a few I really like each season.
There's a bee in this one with his
wings closed while he
busies himself gathering pollen...also
I have circled the shot for drama's sake.

Project in Progress

Wednesday June 25 2008

Above is a print of "Anne" in
a handmade collaged frame
Above Annie is:
"Winter Yard" a 5 by 7 original acrylic
embellished with vintage button and my brush.
I am framing and embellishing all my smaller
paintings because they need it to sell well.
It's quite the project spread out all over the studio
Five of them will hang for the month of August
at the Kent Library in Suffield---There should be 100
works to see, by several different artists.
I will have the allotted amount of five
which will sell for $75. each, which is just
the beginning bid on EBay.

Don't Go Downtown

Tuesday June 24 2008
Spotted this chicken in the Springs today.
He may stay awhile, you know, till he's
full. So lock your doors and wait a few days
before venturing down town.

Backlooking Palomino

Monday June 23 2008
I guess in this size photo it is hard
to see two Palomino
horses with one looking back at me
quite some distance away
on the road from my son's house.
I have always loved what could
be seen on either side of this
road in different lights.

Cat With Paper

Sunday June 22 2008
Yesterday, I went to Ellie's to meet
Debbie, Annette and Mabel who were
all connected to Ellie and
Sigh (shortened from Cydonia)
in someway when Ellie decided she
must own Sigh. This was great company
and a delicious lunch. I have come
to the conclusion that
soft white cats are difficult to photo for
details, but easier than Black ones.
I have altered this photo till I liked
the painted effect which seems to suit
the soft fur. I also eliminated
background kitty toys and
people feet. Sigh loves paper
to tussle with as most cats do.

Come to Greet Me

Saturday June 21 2008

Having 30 minutes to wait, I drove the short

distance to the Cemetery to see what might

catch my eye. In this photo the negative spaces

looked cool--and the trees themselves like sentinals

with one looking maternal. When I turned

around I was surprized to see many geese

gathering to see what I had to eat, which was

absolutely nothing.

Silo Shadows

Friday June 20 2008
Taken today--it was a day when
the light played best in close up
shots. This silo has replaced one that
was leaning quite far to the left for
a long time, till a storm finished it.
Some will know where it is...

The Place To Wait

Thursday June 19 2008
Here's a scene at the
Chester, Vt. Depot in the early am.
*********
Unless the train arrived,
there is a young woman dressed
in Victorian Black
attire sitting on the bench with
her suitcase beside her.
She is leaving
Chester and going to
study art in New York City.

There's no sugar in my coffee !

Wednesday June 18 2008
Slight change of pace here. My brother
spent a few days at the Sacramento Zoo
and is sharing photos with me. This seems
to be an eyeopener for the viewer
even if the Snow Leopard has his shut.

Having lunch

Tuesday June 17th 2008

Oops, this waitress looks like she likes

her photo taken about as much as I do..

better tell the photographer not to put it

on her blog, it's a small world and

she would be banned from that place.
(I think I know what
she is saying to herself...)

Shadowed Seats

Monday June 16 2008

How I love to find
chair shots-----I love
their shadows and the promise of
comfort and relaxing.
......or perhaps an ideal place for
a mystery to unfold, as the
book cover suggests.

Now That's A Porch !

Sunday June 15 2008
Near Weston,
these people really have the same idea I
always had--a porch wrapping all around
for multi views---now to get all the mosquitos
to go to the mountain tops and stay there
would make this feasible.
They literally keep me a prisoner with the
yard being off limits.

What A Lot Of Chopping !

Saturday June 14 2008
A place in Chester Vermont called
Murphy's Ski Haus that I liked a lot
to photo in the early morning shadows.
All the firewood seemed to hold promise
for cozy times .

Go Sox!

Friday June 13 2008 In a Weston Vermont country store

window, I liked this sentiment

on the T shirt--I had to lighten it

for the sake of being able to read it on

the Blog.

Mill Alley

Thursday June 12 2008

A downtown Stafford Springs Mill view
that I frequently look over.
I often stop in my car, to see it's
different moods.
******************
I will be at my
class reunion for a few days
and will fill in the days I missed when
I return. Bye for now.......

Cherry Drops

Wednesday June 11 08
These are after a rain, drops on a freshly
painted picnic table. I like to take many
kinds of background type photos and this one
is a favorite

Song Sparrow Sitting Sassy

Tuesday June 10 2008

Since today is my birthday, I will say.
to get a shot like this one
is a wonderful gift as far as I'm concerned
...as I have not much experience
with new long lens and new camera
---but luck is on my side sometimes !

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Looks delicious!

Tuesday June 10 2008
I stopped to photo this beautiful peach
colored Iris----just so stunning to me
and looks good enough to eat.
I also liked the graceful grasses just being there.

My Two Cents on Bugs

Monday June 9 2008
Here's my ATC
(Artist's Trading card
the size of a playing card)
The theme was
June Bugs.
Here is my final prototype:
****************
"My Two Cents on Bugs "
..has been changed several times.
The Lacewing bug
and pennies are raised,
the legs done with gel pen
and sign is added with
my opinion---I am ready to
go into production of 12 more
of these--all the pieces and
supplies ready etc.
The Lacewing beetles devastate
many plants but have
gorgeous wings!

A No Hatter

Sunday the 8th of June 2008

I was some surprised to see this fellow

off Orcutville Rd. I don't think he should be

allowed to drive, even on his own property,

nude, with no hat on......

A Quick Perch

Saturday June 7th 2008
A telephoto in the rain way over in the field---
how excited was I, to be just looking thru the
lens at the tractor, and the bird landed for a second !

Blushing Betty

Friday June 6 2008
Tonight I went to a class at Inspiration Station
on techniques inspired by Tim Holts.
We did about 6 different ones and two card size
results of all the learned things. I
am one rotten student in most any class
I take as I get so concentrated on what I'm
doing I miss the next steps ...don't hear
a word the instructor says etc. ...I am
better at teaching than learning ........
whatever that may conjure up in the annuls of history.
I depicted the girl in the card blushing quite
a bit and I suppose
that is provocative.

Retired

Thursday 5th of June 2008

Here, an old farm tractor has

dropped anchor in a sea of grass.

I hope it stays moored till I have

the chance to photo it under

many scenarios that will crop up.

Falling on Vines

Wednesday June 4th

Out on the front porch this rainy gray day

I was wondering what could I find to photo---

this is a Clematis vine that has managed

to grow this tall and find a way to wind around

the posts---they usually like thinner posts

---but that's what they have to work

with and I see they have adjusted.

This size photo doesn't show the beads of

raindrops too well. You can left click
on the photo and see it larger.

I Spy A Spider

Tuesday June 3 2008
Taken yesterday in the glaring sun by the fence
where they seem to thrive all summer.
These viloets were not planted, but came
to belong here by breezes or birds.
A bonus in the shot was the spider.

You Talkin' To Us?

Monday June 2 2008
The colors were more vivid just before
a rain here. The pair seemed just as
interested in me as I of them,
or perhaps the yellow
VW looked like a particularly
large bale of exotic hay!
